The Black Student Achievement Plan aligns with the Los Angeles Unified Strategic Plan's core beliefs of Equity, Collaboration, and Excellence. Through a robust implementation of the Black Student Achievement Plan (BSAP), its mission, objectives, and operation is designed to address the unique and unmet needs of Black students. This allows all students to benefit from an educational environment that values diversity and actively works towards eliminating educational disparities that have historically inhibited Black students' success in school systems nationwide.
Before joining the Black Student Achievement team within the Educational Transformation Office, Valencia served as an Elementary Principal supporting TK-5 grade students, staff and families. As an instructional leader, she coordinated professional development, led initiatives in various disciplines to build the capacity of adults who build the best outcomes for our scholars.

She began her teaching career in Los Angeles Unified School District where she was a proud product and attended California State University, Los Angeles.
